Nashville is where the music magic happens which is why Lauren Lester, winner of 103.1 The Wolf’s songwriter rounds and local singer-songwriter, is headed to Music City!

Thanks to Mikki V’s and all the people who made songwriter rounds a success, Lauren, who last traveled to Nashville about eight years ago, is “so excited to go back” for a short-songwriting trip next weekend. While there, she will have a co-write session with LOCKHART’S Johnny Bulford.

“I'd always loved singing and playing, but didn't really start exploring the process of making up my own stuff and sharing it until I was 18 years old,” Lauren said.

Now she will have the opportunity to write with Bulford, who co-wrote Lee Brice’s “A Woman Like You” and Chris Young’s hits “Flashlight” and “Lonely Eyes.”

Lauren admits she is still a newbie when it comes to official songwriting sessions though.

“I've never been a part of an official Nashville co-write opportunity so I'm excited to see the process. I'm looking forward to soaking in the atmosphere and culture,” Lauren said. “My hope is that we write a smokin' hit song that Blake Shelton or Thomas Rhett will record and release!”

While Lauren is comfortable sharing her original songs now, she wasn’t always that confident and said that joining a group of musicians who met weekly encouraged her to write and play original music for others.

“I write a lot about my own experiences and people I know... you know the usual, love lost, love found, and all that's in between,” Lauren said. “I always try to be honest in my writing because we really are so much alike and I think the more authentic we can be, the more others can relate.”

As seen from the songwriter rounds, her sound has a light, country and folk feel.

“I'm thankful to use music for expression. It's definitely the most comfortable way I've found to express my thoughts and feelings,” Lauren said. “I'll be sure to have a toast for The Wolf, Mikki V's and all the people that came out in support of the songwriter rounds event!”

Keep up with her when she gets back to Central Florida:
