New Music Friday

Posted by Chad on October 15, 2021 in Featured

Happy Friday Wolf Country! It’s New Music Friday and we are here to give you some of our favorite releases of the week!

The long awaited album from Toby Keith, Peso In My Pocket is finally here! The 10 track album is the first release from Keith since 2015! The title track was a solo write for Keith along with three others! The majority of the album is traditional country and the  album features a mix of seriousness with his signature humor. Although the album may be inspired by Mexico, Keith expresses his continuous love for his country with “Happy Birthday America.”

Cassadee Pope released her newest album Thrive. The 13 track album is a blend of her pop-punk roots and country boots. In a recent Instagram post, she stated “Following your gut can be scary, but my inner voice has never been so loud. I’ve found a way to blend my two favorite genres: pop=punk and country. This album is totally and completely me.” You may know Cassadee from The Voice, but she go her start in a pop-punk band named Hey Monday. The album was produced by Pope, Nickolas Wheeler, and Karen Fairchild from Little Big Town. The album features country stars Lindsay Ell and Karen Fairchild on “What the Stars See” and the track “Mind Your Own” features Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins!

Zac Brown Band also had a new album released entitled The Comeback! The 15 track album is their first album since The Owl in 2019! Brown recently stated “The Comeback celebrates our collective resilience as a community, This music is about standing together and rediscovering our roots and what makes us human.” This album includes their current single, “Same Boat,” which came out earlier this year and has the message to embrace coexistence. Brown was able to co-write each of the songs and worked with collaborators you may know including Luke Combs Ben Simonetti, Wyatt Durette, Jonathan Singleton, and the Cadillac Three’s Neil Mason!

Ryan Hurd’s new album Pelago! This 15 track album is Hurd’s debut album! Since he is a songwriter first, it is only appropriate that the naming of the album came from a writing session. While he was writing the song “Coast,” he needed a word that rhymed with Chicago and found pelago. He found out “Pelago” in Italian means sea and overwhelming passion and quickly thought that it would be perfect to name the album this as it is the overarching theme of each of these songs!

Although Walker Hayes may still be riding the high of his hit “Fancy Like,” Hayes just released his new song “U Girl” and of course it comes with a Tik Tok dance choreographed by his daughter Lela! Learn the new dance here!

Morgan Evans released “Sing Along Drink Along” which has been released just a few weeks ahead of his album The Country and The Coast Side A which releases on October 29th! The song pays ode to Bruce Springsteen. Sometimes life can get complicated and sometimes it helps to have a cold one with your friends! That is what this song feels like!

Miranda Lambert’s new single, “If I Was A Cowboy” is accompanied by the release of the music video too! The song is Lambert’s Wild West dream. We agree with her, if she was a cowboy she would be the queen! Watch the music video here!

Up and comer Kamryn Palmer also had a song released today entitled “What You Can’t Have.” This heart break song captivates listeners with the story of her heartbreak of wishing she could hate someone for what they have done to her, but she wants what she can’t have. She wrote this song the same night she wrote her song “Use Me” and said “they’re like sisters.”
